the crooked knife

A gem in a relatively barren section of the city. The charming atmosphere (rickety wooden tables, flickering christmas lights, farmhouse paintings and lively outdoor area) and homey american food (creamy chicken pot pie, steaming beef stew, goat cheese salad with warm, toasted hazelnuts) attract neighbors and tourists alike. I came here for the first time with my mom on a hot summer night. We sat by the big window out front and shared two salads, one with spicy cajun chicken and fresh fruit, the other with just-off-the-grill scallops. It was the perfect, casual dinner, and I've been back many times since.
