minetta's tavern

http://www.minettatavernny.com/
One of my favorite places in the city, despite the fact that it's (in one form or another) been around for almost a century. I love the old-school glamor of the black-and-white tiled floors, polished oak bar and original wood paneling almost as much as I love the food. The black label burger is famous, and rightly so: according to our waiter, its buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture is due to the type of meat they use and the way in which it is dried, but it's hard to believe that there isn't a tablespoon or two of butter hidden inside the patty. Call weeks ahead for weekend reservations.
