blue dog cafe

My go-to place for consistently fantastic soups, sandwiches and coffee when I'm in the area. The place is a tiny hole-in-the-wall (though it was recently renovated) and there's barely enough room to sit down, but the menu lives up to - and often exceeds - its slightly inflated prices. I don't like avocado but I love the turkey, avocado and sun-dried tomato sandwich made with fresh seven-grain bread and homemade pesto; another favorite is the turkey and havarti sandwich that comes with tangy honey mustard generously smeared on a baguette. The salads are loaded with fresh, seasonal vegetables and cheeses, and the hot turkey chili is perfect for a rainy day. This place can get crowded around lunch time, but the lines move quickly and the food is always worth the wait. Smoothies, fresh-pressed juices, hot coffee, tea and homemade baked goods are also available.
